Airdrie Garage Doors Website

The Site

Airdrie Garage Doors is a garage door installation business located in Airdrie, Alberta. The new owner, Tyler, wanted site to represent energy, action, and change.

Tyler also wanted to be able to use his knowledge of basic HTML to update content as needed. I put all the HTML in one file and made comments inside so he knows where to edit

The business is in the process of being sold. The new owner does not want the site to be live until he owns the business, so I am currently hosting a copy on my domain.

Process

I worked on this project during several courses at BCIT with a focus on clear writing for the web and generating a good user experience.

  • Designed two variations of the site in Photoshop for client input and approval.
  • Coded responsive site using HTML5, AJAX and SASS/CSS3, using my own simple Grid system
  • Formatted copy for the web, in easy to read chunks, with sub-titles for easy scanning
  • Designed logo to portray energy and professionalism
  • Selected appropriate colours and images for target audience
  • Designed navigation and labelling to be simple, with a good information scent

Testing

  • Tested contact form to ensure email is received.
  • Tested mobile version on Android and iPhone.

I also edited her text, breaking it down into scannable chunks to make it easier to read.

Process

Testing

  • Tested contact form to ensure email is received.

Antique Watch Illustration

Description

For a class assignment, we were required to draw a mechanical device from looking at an image, without tracing anything.

Technology

I created the image using Adobe Illustrator using mainly shapes, compound shapes, gradients, brushes and the pen tool.

I enjoyed using math to figure out where to place items and spent a lot of time perfecting the little details of the image.

Camel "Mythbusters" Animation

Description

I created this short animation for my After Effects class at BCIT. The assignment was to create a "Mythbusters" style animation

I wrote the script and recorded the dialogue. I created music using loops from Soundtrack Pro and combined that with the voice-over to create an audio track.

I drew all the pieces separately in Adobe Illustrator. I took pictures of my classmates and included their faces for a bit of fun.

Finally, I compiled all of the pieces together in After Effects to create a short, cute animation, utilizing the puppet tool for the first time.

Burger Love Animation

Description

I created this short animation for my After Effects class at BCIT. The assignment was to animate a music video of at least one minute.

I love this song by Ari Neufeld (and all of his music...) and was inspired to create a Burger Love story to it while listening to the song while running one day.

I drew all the pieces separately in Adobe Illustrator and created the animation in After Effects.

Gastown Trends Video

Description

I created this video/animation as a part of a partner assignment for my Trendsetters class at BCIT.

My partner and I researched Gastown, took photos and video and searched for photos online together.

I wrote the text and storyboarded the video. My partner created the video introduction and edited the photos.

I created music using loops from Soundtrack Pro.

Finally, I compiled all of the pieces together in After Effects to create a short animation outlining mirroring trends in Gastown and Social Media.

I do not have rights to all of the photos used and am working on an updated version that does not contain these photos.
